This is gonna be the last time i do this for a while. I don’t really have any panels from the most recent page that I actually like, so I’m just gonna kind of talk about the progression of the first chapter as a whole here. When I go back and look at it, what I see is not great. Of course, I wrote and drew it, so that’s not exactly surprising. Not that I’m saying that the comic is terrible, I’m just saying that, historically, my own opinions on my works tend to be pretty bad. Like, I look at the comic, and all I see is awkward pacing and poorly composed artwork. But I also see improvement, and that’s nice. I think I’ve finally found a coloring style that I enjoy and can use relatively well, which allows me more time to focus on perfecting my linework and sense of space in my drawings. I’ve learned that the background should be considered another character, and I have to write the story so that it appeals to someone who doesn’t have the pleasure of already knowing the cast as well as me or the friends I rant to about them. In short, I think that the first chapter has been an interesting learning experience, and that the second chapter is where things are really going to start taking off, both with the writing and artistically.
Special thanks to Lisa Eshkenazi, Delaney Joyce, Jeannie Harmon, Gunwild, Psudonym, and the peeps on Psudonym’s Livestream for aiding me with things like character development and artistic composition.
Yeah I’m not inking this.
