So guys. Today I went to PAX Prime, and played some really amazing videya games. Battlecry was freakin’ sweet, and let me tell you: Megaman? He handles in Smash Bros. the exact same way he handles in his original games. Which… is cool? but also a bit odd when transferred to a fighting game-
BUT HEY YOU GUYS. I freakin’ played this game called “Below”, okay? AND LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING. This game was absolute perfection. Forty five minutes with it, and I’m already thoroughly convinced that this is one of my favorite games of all time. It is absolutely everything I find satisfying and amazing about video games, alright? The exploration, the difficulty level, the way the inventory and crafting works. I CANNOT wait for this game to be released, because as soon as it is, I am BUYING THE SHIT OUT OF IT.
Let me explain a little bit about this game if I can. It may be a bit cluttered, as I am super tired and also not great at writing, but bear with me. Below is a dungeon crawler specifically designed with exploration in mind. You character takes up a very small portion of the screen, giving a sense of emptiness and foreboding against the oftentimes intimidating and expansive backgrounds. Beached ships, deserted camps, and deep caverns make up an ever changing labyrinth. You’ve got to plunge into the depths, and discover new and exciting things… If you can keep yourself alive that is. Death comes incredibly easy in this game. When you are injured, you do not stop bleeding until you drink a potion or manage to cauterize your wounds. If you do not forage for food and water, you eventually die. There are pitfalls and traps on which to be poisoned or impaled, and when you die… You die for good. You lose your entire inventory, and start as a DIFFERENT adventurer, in a different part of the caves. It makes for a rather peaceful, time melting experience. Exploring, looting, crafting, finding new weapons and their uses. It takes all of the best exploration of a game like skyrim. Adds a simple, clean and gloriously designed crafting system. throws in a smooth 3/4ths angle like Transistor or Summon night, and tops it all with an incredibly moving soundtrack and excellently designed ambiance to give you a gaming experience completely unlike anything that has come before it. THIS GAME, FOR MY PERSONAL GAMING TASTES, IS LIKE, THE CLOSEST THING TO PERFECTION I HAVE EVER PLAYED.
So I made fanart. Enjoy! (It’s high res too.)
also, here’s the website.
Friendly reminder that anyone born between 1985-1998 didn’t get their hogwarts letter because Voldemort’s ministry wiped out the record of muggleborns
I’m so tired my eyes will literally no stop watering. It looks like I’m some incredibly sappy sap full of sappiness about sappy things.
You know that thing I do where I post a picture of my favorite panel from the most recent update of my webcomic, and then talk for a little bit about why I like it? Welll… I like this whole page… So have a slightly more high res version of it! It’s a very rare occurrence, but this time, I felt that the layout and the colors and the expressions and well… almost everything about this page came out how I wanted them to, and hey, that’s alright by me. Although the Ancestor’s fingers came out looking like… noodles or something in the first panel.
Yup. I like this page. It almost makes up for the page I’m currently working on that I HATE EVERY SINGLE INCH OF.
Diagnose your Tsundere meter? What the hell, I’ll give it a shot.
Huh… Well that’s obviously incorrect.
Ahh yes, that’s more like it. Now I wonder if-
couple of superheroes designs for the stoopid webcomic. There’s actually a ton of superheroes in Magical Girl Neil, though they all have their own full fledged stories as well. The top character doesn’t have a name yet, but she’s technically supposed to be from venus? Her and her Fiance are the subject of an old story of mine based off the simple phrase: “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus.” The second character is called The Man On The Moon. So far, he’s the most powerful superhuman in the MGN storyline, though his powers haven’t really been fleshed out as of yet. He sticks to hanging around the moon mostly, and protects the earth from cosmic threats ranging from asteroids to extraterrestrial attacks.
I was bored at work, so I squoogled a gloop on the chalkboard. Haven’t had much time for chalk drawing recently, but I do rather enjoy it. It’s a medium that lends itself to semi-transparent things very well.
The Vanaa belong to psudonym and gunwild. I’ll add links to their blogs later when I’m not on mah phoooooone.
